Our History

In April 1986, Word of Life Ministries was founded. The first service was held in the Econolodge in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The ministry had approximately 175 people in attendance at that time. A few months later, as the ministry continued to grow, it moved to Jeannette, Pennsylvania. In 1990, the current facility which is located in GreensburgPennsylvania was built.

As God continued to bless Word of Life, Phase I of the building expansion began in 1995. The facility expanded to consist of several classrooms, a bookstore and a sanctuary that can now seat approximately 1,000 people. By 2001, Phase II was started. By 2002 Phase II was completed. This expansion consisted of a YouthCenter, Café, large kitchen and a formal dining room.

Pastor Tom Walters: “God has been so good to us. He continues to add to our membership on a regular basis and people who have been gone for years are now returning. I believe this is in fulfillment to numerous prophecies that have been spoken over our ministry. God is good!”

April 20, 2006 marked Word of Life's 20th Anniversary. As we move forward as the body of Christ, we strive to be a Church whose heartfelt praise and worship touches Heaven and changes earth. We desire to be a Church whose people are unified, praying, and full of God's Spirit. Our message is very clear and lives are being changed forever. We are reaching our potential in Christ and fulfilling His Word through the power of His Spirit.
